Buy Nothing Day

Buy Nothing Day is an annual international day of protest against overconsumption and consumerism, observed every year on the same day as Black Friday — the fourth Friday of November. Founded in Canada in 1992 by artist Ted Dave and championed by the Adbusters movement, it challenges people around the world to step back from shopping for 24 hours and reflect on the environmental and social costs of excessive consumption.
