Leonid Meteor Shower
The Leonid Meteor Shower peaks on the night of November 17 with about 15 meteors per hour in a typical year — but the Leonids are historically famous for storms that produce thousands per hour, last seen in 2001. The parent is Comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle, which orbits every 33 years. When it passes the sun, the Leonids can reignite into a storm.
