Quadrantid Meteor Shower
The Quadrantid Meteor Shower kicks off the year in early January, peaking on the night of January 3 with up to 120 meteors per hour under dark skies. The parent body is asteroid 2003 EH1, a likely extinct comet. The peak is narrow — just a few hours — so precise timing matters, and northern-hemisphere viewers get the best show. Activity continues at lower rates through January 12.
